Diving equipment, Scuba, and Gear.
Hello
and welcome to Scuba-america.com. Our site is dedicated to the underwater
world of scuba diving and all of the pieces of equipment that a diver
needs to have a successful under sea adventure. Scuba-america.com is
purely an informational site and does not support or endorse any particular
brand, designer, company, or diving product. We just love the water
and we have committed our site to displaying and dispersing that best
information about scuba diving.
Some of the best diving spots in North America are in climates that
boast warm weather for the majority of the calendar year. These locations
are often tropical or sub tropical and can offer great diving all year
long. However, with the proper equipment, scuba diving can be a grand
adventure in almost any temperature.
Scuba diving is when a person or people swim underwater while taking
part in another activity. In scuba the other activity is usually exploring,
teaching, treasure hunting, and/or learning.
To enjoy the underwater world a scuba diver needs the appropriate equipment.
Scuba divers use a wide variety of items in the water. Some of the most
important include: fins, a mask, a suit, and something to aid in underwater
breathing. Divers will also sometimes use diver propulsion vehicle to
get around faster in the water. There are so many types of equipment
that are used in scuba diving that the word scuba actually refers to
the equipment that a person uses not the act of diving.
There are various reasons why a person might dive. Some people dive
as a job and others venture underwater for fun and recreation. Below
is an explanation of commercial, scientific, and recreational diving.
Commercial diving is done for many reasons. Some of the most frequent
reasons for commercial diving are:
• Aquarium maintenance
• Boat and ship inspection, cleaning, and maintenance
• Civil Engineering
• Offshore construction and maintenance
• Demolition and salvage
• Fish farm maintenance
• Fishing
• Harbor clearance
If a person is employed as a diver, he or she may be a scientist or
a trained professional. Below are some great diving jobs.
• Marine Biologist
• Underwater Archaeologist
• Military Diver
• Rescue Diver
For the rest of the world diving means fun and recreation. This may
include cave diving or diving to simply tour a reef or a shipwreck.
But regardless of why a person dives, certification is required. In
the United States certification can be achieved and maintained in many
ways, but there are a few basic requirements.
Basic Diving Certification Requirements include a minimum age of 15
for an open water diver certification. A diver cannot have certain medical
conditions and must have basic water skill comfort. All of which will
be tested.
After certification has been achieved some divers opt to earn their
instructor training certificates. These highly sought after certifications
can be earned at dive schools across the United States and the world.
